Me Killing Alduin

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 05:13 AM PST

I was about to finish off the Ebony Warrior when the courier interrupted me, EW used this chance to shout me off the mountain.

To soothe my rage I spawned multiple couriers and beat them to death with Volendrung.

One last battle.

That moment when you walk triumphantly through a Skeever nest, crushing every one that you see, and then see two Giant Spiders. Then you remember the arachnophobia.

Uh, Olfrid...keep it down!

I decided to use the Dragonborn to try a different take on my usual minimalism.

Stannis Roleplay

Posted: 24 Jan 2018 10:45 PM PST

So I'm planning to start a Stannis Baratheon build in Tamriel. Here's my setup currently. Screenshots to follow:

(contains GOT/ASOIAF spoilers)

Breton

Stannis doesn't really give a shit about one's race. While the Nords usually associate themselves as those who wants to topple the empire and have Ulfric be the ruler, and the Thalmors being Altmer supremacists, etc. Stannis does his actions not out of anything "inherent", but out of his sense of duty. It's good to "represent" this by being of a hybrid race.

Sword: Dawnbreaker

Because it's got the "burning" enchantment. I'm considering getting the "2-handed dawnbreaker" mod tho.

Live Another Life mod: Own a property in Shoal's rest farm.

Stannis got so tired of all the Tamriel politics and so he wanted to isolate himself. (Just like how he walked out of King's Landing due to the "Lannister taking the throne for themselves" drama) But due to some rumors about some weird events happening in Helgen, he thinks it might be the time for him to go back.

Follower mod: Scarlet (Fire Mage), act as Melisandre

After Helgen, on his way to Whiterun, he stumbled into the Sleeping Giant Inn where a mysterious woman met her. She told him about the prophecies about him being The Dragonborn and asks to come with him in his mission to save Tamriel.

Storylines:

Thieves Guild

Stealing is bad. Kill everyone. :(

Dark Brotherhood

Destroy. To start this quest, I'm thinking of talking to the kid who summons the DB, accept the contract with the reason being the lady is evil anyway. But after fulfilling the contract kill the kid too by burning him alive. Scarlet advises him that there might be some evil stuff that were accidentally summoned while the kid did the DB ritual, and to ensure all that is undone is to sacrifice the kid to her god (still not sure which deity she would worship btw)

Civil War

Imperial. Stormcloaks are usurpers of thr throne and Ulfric is a kingslayer. Aldmeri Dom are usurpers too.

College of Winterhold

Don't take it. Maybe Scarlet could manipulate him into enrolling too? IDK. I also personally just doesn't enjoy the college storyline.

Dragonborn

Stop the usurpers!

Dawnguard

Vampires are a threat to Tamriel. Kill them.

Some things I'm still thinking about on how to make my Stannis RP experience better:

  • Armor. Right now i'm using Heavy Elven set mainly due to aesthetics. I checked the GOT Armor mod but I honestly didn't like the Stannis armor. Suggestions?
  • What to do with Companions. On one hand, ofc being a werewolf is not an option, but I could have some use for mercenaries. Stannis had a pirate army during Blackwater (shoutout to my homie Davos).
  • Speaking of Davos, i'm thinking of getting a sneak follower to play as him. My personal gripe with a melee sneak follower is that unless your main is also sneak (which Stannis isn't), they can be underwhelming in combat. Thoughts? He could also play a role with my Thieves Guild storyline but not sure yet how.
  • Adopt a daughter, but eventually burn her alive as a sacrifice at some point later? Not sure yet why I'd do that, maybe to guarantee the Imperial win in Civil War, or for the dragons to die? /shrug
  • I'm considering getting Conjuration too in very low level, as the Summon Familiar can be a good proxy to Melisandre's shadow assassin babies. But it seems that Scarlet has Conjurer skills too so maybe that'd be overkill if I also have it.
  • Still not sure yet how all the faith and religion will fit in. Stannis is obv an atheist. What god should Scarlet worship? What's each respective character's opinion of Talos? etc
  • if I destory the Brotherhood I assume I won't be able to have Cicero (Patchface :)) as follower?
  • I wanna put a Renly character somewhere, not sure how he would fit tho. Maybe an altmer half-brother who joined the Thalmor? lol
  • I prob should also get the Become the High King mod but not sure if that's compaatible with LAL

Do you guys have any more suggestions? Thoughts?

Your Skyrim Character

Posted: 24 Jan 2018 09:52 PM PST

Currently on my second playthrough, and after doing a brute who played through every questline, I created a new guy.

I gave him a backstory and everything. Bearing the question: Who's your Dragonborn, and what's their story?

Tycho Scar-Eyed

Far off the coast of Hammerfell rests a crescent shaped island. A mysterious fog surrounds the land and all it's people, rendering its existence completely unknown to the rest of Nirn.

On the island, resides a tribe of Redguard, their name translating roughly to the Blood-Arrows.

The arrows are an autonomous tribe, farming, crafting, and most important to their culture- Hunting.

The Blood-Arrows live to hunt. It is unknown how this activity became so prevalent in their society, but it's become an art form for the tribe.

They end every night with a feast, the main attraction being the meat of whatever beast their hunters had killed.

Their clothing being earned only once they had skinned a creature. Their weapons being earned only once they killed a creature.

Tycho was one of those tribals. Loving to hunt, he excelled in being light on his feet, and using bows. He enjoyed every minute with his tribe, Hunting being something he enjoyed more than anything else. But then then the "Slaughterless Year" began.

The Blood-Arrows' home had been plagued with a strange occurrence, the population of the island's animals had disappeared. Angry, distraught, and scared, the tribe began to take on alternatives. A mainland Redguard, one who had been taken in by the tribals years prior, had been tasked with luring ships towards the island.

This proved to be quite a successful endeavour for the tribe. Ships began sailing towards the island more and more often. The hunters would wait for the ships to dock, and would begin hunting them across the island.

Tycho enjoyed this new form of hunting. That was until things started changing in the tribe's diet.

With the return of the hunt, the tribe began feasting once more. But with a much different form of meat. Tycho partook in the feast for a time, but soon became sickened by his tribe's actions. Once he had a chance, he abandoned his tribe, looking towards Skyrim as his new hunting ground.

He turned to Bounty Hunting, Treasure Hunting, and Mercenary Work in order to fill his desire for blood. He now works, saving his money for a home in Dawnstar.

Is it worth it to play on Legendary?

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 03:45 AM PST

I'm taking a break from dark souls for a bit, and I wanted to make another playthrough of skyrim. I normally play on expert but I wanted to try out the higher difficulty levels. I'm probably going to go with a sword and board character.

I can only increase my health when I level up (SE on PC) HELP.

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 05:45 AM PST

So, a while back, when I used NMM, I installed a mod to auto level up my Magicka/Health/Stamina. I have since deleted NMM and every mod with it, and reinstalled the game. Every time I level on any character, it pops up "Increase Health?" in a text box, with only the options "OK" or "Cancel." Making that my only choice if I ever want to level. Any ideas on how to make this stop?

EDIT: SOLVED

Why does neloth drink canis root tea?

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 05:03 AM PST

In the dark brotherhood questline astrid gives a canis root to kill uriel septim. So if neloth drinks it he should die right? And i also tried to eat it from my inventory it gives me damage stamina and paralysis. (Sorry for my broken English)
