I love seeing people just going with a theme in a gym.

In the town that I work in, no one really puts try hard pokemon in gyms. So when I saw that this one had a Chancy in it, I intentionally stuck in something weak to make sure that it wasn't too hard to beat the gym. So it got one of my low level unevolved pokemon (jigglypuff) and I drove off and didn't think anything of it.

Came back today and saw that people just continued the pink/purple theme that I apparently started. What a great game.

Completed the Celebi quest and I spent some time taking a few AR shots.

Trainers, Professor Willow's #GlobalChallenge has now kicked off in the Asia-Pacific region. Start the challenge strong, Trainers!

FINALLY, I got my first one!

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:57 AM PDT

I've been playing PoGo since day 1, I've been away for a few months, but recently got full bore back into it and I'm having so much fun again. Today was fantastic because I finally got my very first Shiny!

The very first!

How many shinies do you have?

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:44 PM PDT

I got back into the game last June, am currently at Level 30, and have caught 2,771 Pokémon. I have 23 shinies, but 17 of those are Eevees and the remaining 6 were from special events that had increased spawns (2 Squirtles from CD, 3 Minuns, and a Roselia). I've been playing very frequently and for long periods of time whenever I can, yet I find it incredible when I hear that other people have seen many more than I have. I understands the odds are pretty high and it's just a matter of luck, but I'm curious to hear how other people are doing in this area and if there's anything I can do to add to my collection.

Other [possibly] relevant questions: How long have you been playing and how many Pokémon have you caught in total? Do you have any tips for someone looking to catch a few more shinies?

Despite having a gold medal for Johto, my ripple in time quest 7/8 isn’t giving me credit.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 05:42 AM PDT

I've tried restarting and reinstalling the app. I also submitted a ticket to niantic.

Anybody else have this issue and find a solution? I'm 76/70 for Johto, gonna try and hit 77 and see if that corrects it.

UPDATE: I randomly got the quest complete notification just now (about 6 hours after contacting "Nicta". I think they fixed it, because I didn't catch anything new in that time period.

A letter to Professor Willow from a trainer trapped in a quest glitch land.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:52 PM PDT

Dear Professor Willow,

I hope this letter finds you well - if it finds you at all. It has been 3 days since my 7 day stop quest was reset on day 6. I have submitted a bug report, but I do not expect a response. I fear I have fallen prey to a beast of the 4th dimension. I know not where, nor when I am anymore. Each day that passes without progress feels like an eternity. Perhaps this is what hell is like.

Much like my GPS signal, my resolve has begun to waver. I've begun transferring my Pokémon to you - initially in the hope that you receive them and send help - but now I have begun to use the candies to feed myself as rations have begun to run dangerously low. I share with my buddy when I can, so that they may keep their strength up. I know not when the next battle will come, or what dangers we may face in this endless loop of stagnancy.

Madness looms in the distance like a great storm, growing ever closer. I pray this nightmare ends before it reaches me, and that I may still call myself a trainer if I do escape.

My Fears and Expectations For Gen4 Era

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:51 PM PDT

Not sure how to start this off but I think the game has improved immensely. I mean this year alone has gone from 0 to 60 and there's still way more to come. But this is actually what troubles me because at this point I would expect for Niantic to completely drop the ball. They've done well by showing they can break boundaries by adding new forms of pokémon generations ahead of schedule, CDs have been unbelievable, shinies being added left and right, quests in game, lucky pokémon, friendship and trading (did not see that coming), insane events with some of the rarest spawns ever and things just keep getting more wild. The regis of course are a huge exception to all I'm saying but they have tried to liven things up so that we weren't too bored with them. But now that we're here I fear that the next batch of new content will take things down a notch.

What we all are expecting at this point is a better battle system, PvP, gym battle update, other great ways to earn 50 coins a day, a raid map for crying out loud, pokéstop submissions (especially for our rural trainers), abilities and status conditions to be added, a better distribution of moves amongst the many pokémon we have, a help option for someone who can't find friends to raid with, OMG a better handling of moves, and more usefulness for dex fillers. Just to name a few.

I want to believe that they'll come through and really take us to the stars and back but I just don't know somtimes. You hope that they'll come through but then Niantic finds a way to muk something up that cheats us out and leads to posts like the one you're reading now. So once again for the love of God, Niantic, please listen to the community. We love this game. Truly. But a lot of the decisions you make are really-- (insert word of choice here).

My luck the past day had been pretty crazy. Dont know if I should go to the casino or if I spent all my luck on PoGo

Kind of bragging but I'm just more amazed with the odds of it all.

In the past 12 hours, I somehow managed to hatch a shiny winggull, encounter a shiny magikarp in the wild and encounter a shiny mareep through field research. Also hatched a 100iv chansey.

Almost twice L40 and will get my first Entei soon

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 04:49 PM PDT

Just really wanted to share. Altough I'm close to hitting 40M XP I never got an Entei back then. I've been new to the game, did only one Entei raid but didn't caught it.

Realizing that it's now almost a whole year since then makes me realize how long this game is motivating me already. Well... and how much time I'm able to spend on it altough working fulltime with extra 2 hours driving daily.

Well done Niantic! I never expected that this kind of a game would change my daily live into a positive direction. Now just try an update without game breaking bugs (berry glitch last month, now resetting Celebi tasks for some).

AR shots not saving on Android

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:29 PM PDT

I'm using a Galaxy s9. I gave the app full permissions, but they aren't saving in my gallery. I noticed this bug nearly a month ago and reported it to Niantic, but despite updates the bug is still there today. Has anyone else experienced this?

Finally caught a random Ditto to reach 6/8 for the research tasks. Was happy as hell until

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:01 AM PDT

I saw "EVOLVE A MAGIKARP". I died on the inside knowing how much work I need to do to. Why Niantic? Why torture a trainer's soul with a 400 candy farm for a pokeman I can rarely find?!?!?!

Edit: Thanks for the tips everyone!

Tyranitar vs. Golem

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 05:32 PM PDT

So I missed out on Larvitar CD by about a week and started playing after it. Since then I have a team of Tyrnaitars with Bite/Stone Edge all at pretty a high level. As a rock attacker, are Bite/Stone Edge Ttars better than a double-rock Golem? Or is Bite/Stone Edge still good enough? I'm not worried about Rhyperior or Rampardos, mostly just wondering about which one I should bother with for now.

So about Hidden Power Water Suicune and Poor IV

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 06:38 PM PDT

Tomorrow I'll be a getting a HP:W Suicune from a friend (I didn't play when it was originally available) and I'm happy because from what I've read it's Suicune's best fast move by quite a bit. Suicune is my favorite pokemon from all gens and I've really wanted to power one up to use. Unfortunately, with my luck it's IV might become poor (we're ultra friends) so my question is, would it be worth powering it up over another one from a different friend (this is 82%) or a possible higher one from October research, or is HP:W not good enough for it to truly matter?

I've tried to research this, but most posts about Suicune seem to be the generic "it's bad, don't use it" posts, and most posts about IV seem to be the "anything that isn't high is bad". So I'd appreciate some insight if anyone has it.

For the record I already know Suicune will never be "top tier" even with 100% IV and that's fine, it's my favorite and I want to be able to use it anyways. I also don't care about minmaxing, either, but if it's IV going poor would result in some sort of big drop in quality it might make me hesitate on not waiting to try and get a better one.

Thanks a bunch in advance for any help!

Can't find this one specific site, some help?

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 02:14 PM PDT

I remember one time finding a site which showed all progress with badges and how many you average get per day. It would also make a estimate how many more days you would need to complete said badge.

So for example: trading was released on the 20th of june, you've done 50 trades so far so it would take xxx trades to reach the gold gentleman badge with xxx trades/day average.

This site kept your stats and allowed you to keep easier track of your progress. I can't seem to find it again tho... did a ton of google searches but without the name all i find are more pokeassistant/forbes(trash)/gamepress. Is there anyone who knows this site?
