The Blizz Gear store was recently updated with their fall collection and this new piece of HOTS merch has icons, that as far as I'm aware, aren't featured in game currently and that could represent the role rework.

  • Jaina had 'Improved' Ice Block
  • Diablo could charge you from a mile away
  • Tychus had 2 health bars
  • Possession was a heroic
  • Powerslide hit basically everything
  • Support meant Rehgar, Uther or Kharazim
  • The Dragon Knight could be stunned (and pulled...and rooted...)
  • Stuns were all longer
  • Large damage numbers were red
  • You could see everyone's damage taken and healing done
  • Blood for blood was in the game
  • Towers and forts had ammo
  • Forts came with another tower
  • You could 'see' stealth characters
  • Skins were bought...with money

Comparison: current Rain of Destruction VS Rain of Destruction with 1/3rd damage and 3x meteors (bonus 165x meteors)

Rain of Destruction is currently wildly inconsistent. In order to fix this, a (at least temporary) solution is to make the ult hit for less, but hit more often.

Here's comparing the total damage that the rains deal to the 4 target dummies.

For how little argument there is over gazlowe, has Blizzard achieved perfect balance on the hero? The game has certainly changed in the last 18 months, but the people who play Gazlowe are diehard fans, and he's a lot of fun to play.

Stale pro meta with Blaze/Yrel?

I hope Blizzard is planning on buffing/nerfing Blaze/Yrel back into their intended role of main tank. HGC is getting very stale for me with Blaze/Yrel solo laning every game.

Blaze/Yrel are pretty much gank proof. This takes away the incentive to take the risk of gank rotations.

Blaze/Yrel don't win lane vs each other. There is no out playing and exciting solo lane. It is just trade minions and stay healthy/high mana waiting for objective/team fight.

This removes a lot of strategies from the game. It also makes the team fight comps exactly the same every game.

If Blaze/Yrel are to stay as solo lane heroes I would like to see them changed to have other weaknesses.

What do you guys think? Should solo lanes be about skill or just tank heroes with good wave clear?

Uther will still have his place, his stun will forever make his kit viable.

Many times in draft modes where the team prepares to go into battle with Leoric and 3 ranged assassins I believe Uther is the obvious best pick.

Problem is Uther doesn't handle sustained damage well so he might be right support for the team but wrong support against a team of AA opponent.

All the support characters are pretty fragile across the board, some much better at sustaining themselves than others (khara, whitemane, lucio good at running away)

I know she just came out but I would have loved to see whitemane's kit on a tankier character.

There could be some funny interactions. Like Li-ming killing her own teammates to get resets. Leo healing of his team to rez faster. And your team getting killed by that living bomb you cast on the healer by mistake :)

Edit: Healing the enemy would also work. Might be hard to heal as alex.

If Chen got more hp, brewmaster's balance baseline, unstoppable for the first 2 seconds of his drink, and stun on keg smash when you flying kick someone, would that make him a main tank?

Seeing all complains about main tanks and here I am eanting Chen to ba a maintank l. Brewmaster monks in WoW are cool and all and I think that maybe these changes would maje him a main tank if he had disables and peels on a short cd.

(Hero Concept) Ulrezaj, the Xava'tor (Dark Archon, Bruiser)

I'll just post the kit first and get wordy afterwards.

AA range: 4.5
Deals 50% damage in an AoE around target enemy unit.
Trait:
(D) - Shifting Form
Ulrezaj can switch between 15 physical or spell armor. Shifting takes 1 second during which he has no armor.
Abilities
(Q) - Maelstrom Bolts
Ulrezaj creates two projectiles that arc from each side of him, curving towards the target location and passing through units. Enemies hit by Maelstrom Bolts are slowed by 50% that fades over 1.5 seconds. If an enemy is hit by both Bolts, they explode, rooting all enemy heroes in a small radius.
(W) - Energy Converter
Ulrezaj sends out a xelnaga device that damages in its path. Once it reaches its full distance it returns to Ulrezaj at a reduced speed, increasing its radius and healing Ulrezaj for a portion of damage dealt on return

(E) - Void Shift
Target an enemy or ally hero, Ulrezaj then transforms into a cloud of energy for 0.5 seconds before moving 8 range through that hero. Void Shift applies damaging tendrils to all enemy heroes it passes through, dealing X damage per second.
(R1) - Feedback Aura

Ulrezaj becomes a black hole of power, absorbing 25% of damage in a radius around him for 4 seconds. After the duration has ended, Ulrezaj can reactivate Feedback Aura to blast out 150% of absorbed damage in a radius around him.
(R2) - Confusion Wave
Ulrezaj brings down a blast of energy on the target area after 1.5 seconds, reducing their Physical Damage by 50%. He can then reactivate within 1.5 seconds to send a wave of energy from all enemies hit by the initial blast, taunting them to attack the first enemy hit by the wave and extending the duration of the physical damage reduction by 1.5 seconds..

Design Goals:
In designing this kit I wanted to incorporate as much of the Dark Archon signature abilities as possible, without making some unfun hero that vomits mass CC and mana burn everywhere. I also wanted to incorporate signature powers from Ulrezaj in canon, such as moving at the speed of thought and using Xelnaga tech to drain people's energy to maintain himself. Second to this, i wanted to bring in some unique ability functions to help him stand out.

Ability Notes:

Shifting Form
Originally I was going to have Ulrezaj's health be almost entirely shields, and he would spend his shields as his mana. This led to problems as heroes were developed through the last year, with overlap issues between Gul'dan and Fenix showing the more I tried to work on things. I eventually took inspiration from Ulrezaj's canon invulnerability to physical damage sources and came up with Shifting Form. It stood the test of time as I continued iterating on this kit. I envisioned a visual effect where having Spell Armor would give Ulrezaj the traditional Dark Archon hooded and plated look, while physical armor would strip him down and make him look more like an Archon in Starcraft 1.

Maelstrom Bolts
I knew I had to get maelstrom into Ulrezaj's kit, but I wanted to make it feel different enough from Malfurion's Entangling Roots, and Deckard Caine's Scroll of Sealing. A lot of different variants were designed, such as a double AoE sort of thing where the first blast slowed, and the second rooted. Eventually I came to a sort of hybrid of Zul'jins Twin Cleave and Li-Ming's Magic Missiles with a limited AoE root capability.

Void Shift
Taking more notes from Ulrezaj himself than Dark Archons here, I wanted to add a mobility tool that is trickier to use because of limitations. The end result was a dash with a fixed travel distance, requiring a target to cast. The Void Tendrils were another idea taken from Ulrezaj's powers, giving incentive to use the ability aggressively.

Energy Converter
This was the one that wrapped up the kit, literally the last ability I had designed for it. I wanted to give Ulrezaj a unique lifesteal or regeneration type ability that didn't overlap with the ones we currently see on Gul'dan, Zul'jin, and Raynor. I ended up looking at Tal'darim unit abilities from SC2(which while not directly Dark Archon related, have similar vibes). The result was a skillshot that flies out quickly, then increases in size before returning at a slower pace, healing Ulrezaj as it deals damage on the return trip.

Feedback Aura
WHEW Ulrezaj's ults were really hard to sort out, because they could easily become unfun or too powerful with the wrong iterations. Initially Feedback was just going to be a single target channel that hurt them for spell damage dealt, but that seemed either too weak or too strong, and led to it just being a mage killer. At some point I shifted into this damage reversal sort of thing, trying not to step on the toes of ults like Twilight Dream.

Confusion Wave
This one ran into balance problems as well as I worked on it. It was Iterated from a Garrosh Taunt style thing that made enemies caught in it attack whoever Ulrezaj attacked, to a big delayed AoE that was centered on an enemy. Eventually I took inspiration somewhat from kelthuzad's chain mechanics to create the final version of this ability.

This was a fun personal project of mine dating back several months of off and on work during free time. I wanted to apply ideas for a hero I would love to see added to Heroes of the Storm, and perhaps even through this give inspiration to the developers! Being a long-time Starcraft fan, my various unfinished hero kits for characters such as Swann(HERC), Overmind(Defiler), and Talis(Adept) are all Starcraft characters. I honestly only recently started playing Diablo 3 and WC3.

I'm a low level tank main looking to get better. I also want to start streaming Hereos of the Storm. Who are your guys favourite tank-main streamers and why do you enjoy watching them so I can hopefully make a stream that will be entertaining! (Other than the fact they're likely good at the game)
