Your favorite skyrim "oops" moments?

A post elsewhere reminded me of this one during my playthrough.. Got a quest, pretty sure related to the main, to go to an underground temple and clear it out...

Of course i got distracted en route and after a bunch of exploring, found i was approaching the quest marker..

Looked like id gone too far and was approaching the entrance from the backside.. as there was this long causeway with stones leading up to the below ground entrance..

Got close, saw incoming mobs on the radar, so hid behind a stone and two soldiers ran up to stand beside a door..

"Oooh, enemies!" so, hidden, i sniped them both dead and waited to see what happened..

Ohh, two more ran up and took their place..

Ok, dead.

Fast forward 15-20 mins and there is a mountain of dead guards in front of the door.. when i decide to think about it more..

"ohhhh, i was supposed to meet some guides here, derp"

So i stroll through a couple hundred corpses, two fresh guards greet me and we all enter the temple..

So I was walking into the College with my horse and follower, Lydia and Shadowmere respectively.

And I am talking with someone trying to buy some spells ( btw I NEED to play a pure mage after this play through) and out if nowhere I hear Lydia say that "What is that" line. Then the Thalmor guy and half the mages start blasting me and her, there's Dremora, Shock spells the whole kazoo.

Anyone have any idea how this happened? I thought it was hilarious but now I am scared to go there with her.
