Andrei... what have you been doing to the alpacas!?

Caravans are so good, i regret not investing on them for so long

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 08:39 PM PDT

I have 200+ hours and i play since... i dont know, 0.15? something like that. I never tried to use caravans, they looked pretty hard to use and not worth it, but i had an experience right about now that was really cool and changed my perception.

i started a colony in a tundra, but more especifically in a kind of glacial island: https://imgur.com/a/k2sBY0j so, because of that (and by the fact i have a nice road next to me), travelling in caravan got easier.

i got a nice story because of it. One day i had a stash of items quest, so i sent Yellow, my best character, to go look for it. There were supposedly no threats, but it was an ambush. I ended up losing Yellow. But after something like 2 months, that were pretty harsh without my dear Yellow, i got a notification saying Yellow was a prisoner in a nearby camp, so i sent most of my crew right away. And i got my Yellow and some nice loot!! It was awesome, really rewarding and emotional. But... Yellow did not have the appropriate gear, so she died of hypothermia. Anyway, it was truly a involving story. This game is truly a Story Generator, and you got to trust it, just try things and behold the lore evolve.

I know its not the best story, but im glad i experienced it and im really happy to share it!

Trying to Assemble a team to develop a Medical Overhaul Mod

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:21 PM PDT

Hello fellow hat makers

Yours truly is trying to assemble a couple of people (2-3) to assist in developing a medical based mod that would virtually overhaul / add onto the current medical system.

The Idea is to break this mod into 3 different sections.

  • medications
  • Treatment
  • Illnesses

when it comes down to medications the idea is to break it down into 2 sections. initially i would like to add 8 medications in total, each medication would have a Pharmaceutical Grade and illegal narcotics type. each medication will be able to be grown, then crafted and will have both positive and negative effects.

For example you would grow poppies, those poppies can then be refined into 2 versions. The pharmaceutical version would cost more resources to produce but would create Hydrocodone. the benefits of this would be pain relief ect and would have a lower addiction potential. the second version would be heroin, this would be cheap to produce, would have increased positive effects and negative effects and a high addiction rate.

This would be the overall idea for the medications added.

When it comes to the treatment portions of the mod i would like to add specific treatments for specific diseases or illnesses, for example if someone has a heart attack they don't instantly die. you could preform a few different procedures like a cardiac bypass, placing stints, or a cardiac cath. each procedure would be able to have different effects on the patients health. each procedure would require different skill levels or medication requirements.

And lastly, the illness portion, i would like to have the mod add a few new illnesses, and some that can spread to different limbs and portions of the body, increasing the rate that a amputation would be required.

again this is an overview of how i would like the mod to work, however i have no coding abilities, (trust me ive tried to learn multiple times) i just cant seem to pick it up. I hope some of you would be interested in this mod and how it would work. so if anyone is interested in helping make this a thing please reply and help me out. haha unless u/TynanSylvester would like to contact me and help me implement this directly ;)

again thank you all for reading this and i hope a couple of you could help make this dream come true

  • thanks

Most educational RimWorld let's play?

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 08:40 PM PDT

I'm fairly new to the game. I've played enough to get a general idea of how to fight and survive. However, I felt rather lost when trying to reach end game (build a spaceship and escape the rimworld).

I've already watched a few episodes of more entertainment focused let's plays (northernlion and sips). That being said, I haven't come across a YouTuber who knows enough about the game for me to effectively learn from.

Any suggestions on informative let's plays rather than entertainment focused let's plays are greatly appreciated.

I may have committed some light medical malpractice. (Accidentally harvested a colonist's organs instead of a prisoner's. She wasn't happy about it.)

This should NOT be allowed. Hell, this should be illegal. Holy shit.

Came back to Rimworld this week after not touching it for a few months. This game is still keeping it real.

Can we get an "are you sure?" notification for colony/caravan attack buttons?

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 06:51 PM PDT

I just successfully delivered 26 simple helmets in exchange for some neat weaponry with a faction that I had been on not-so-great terms with. After checking out what they have for trading, I accidentally double click the cancel button--which is conveniently exactly over where the attack button is. Generates map, instant enemies. For fucks sake.

Can we get a "Are you sure you want to do this?" notification for things like this? I'd really appreciate being able to stay on good terms even when I accidentally press my left mouse button twice. Anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: ohh and you can't even abort mission early haha that's so funny because i literally sent my fav colonist to do the deal haha so funny haha

EDIT2: thank god for the ransom (really cheap too for some reason)

Is there a mod for a "reverse moisture pump"?

Posted: 29 Jul 2018 01:16 PM PDT

I think it'd be neat for my pawns to be able to create their own "lakes" or "ponds" or "rivers" beyond what already generates. Since the moisture pump removes water, I basically just want that in reverse to create it. Does this exist? I've tried searching and haven't had much luck :(

With maximum heat protection, do pawns take damage from being on fire?
