This Week At Bungie 07/27/2017

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 01:50 PM PDT

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/46087

This week at Bungie, we're grading one test and cramming for the next.

The Destiny 2 Beta on PlayStation and Xbox is over! Millions of you showed up to stand in the fires of the Tower and fight back. If you were one of the brave souls who dove past the drill to infiltrate the Inverted Spire, we thank you from the bottom of our sadistic hearts. The Crucible was an epic struggle between Market and Rugs. The Farm was so packed for the one hour we tested, we had to coop the chickens.

All told, this was the biggest Bungie Beta ever, and we're not even done running eager test subjects through the obstacle course. We learned a lot about how we can improve the launch of Destiny 2 – on consoles, at least. There will come a time for a public analysis of our findings. Before we dare take a victory lap or share statistics for how many shots were fired in the new version of Control, we have preparations to make for the final phase of pre-launch sparring.

PC Community! You are up next. And this will be our first dance. Save the Date.

Destiny 2 PC Beta

****

Early Access: August 28

Open Beta: August 29 Beta Ends: August 31

Minimum Requirements We know you want to know what you'll need to play. This question has been floating on the winds of the Internet ever since we finally uttered a sentence with the words "Destiny" and "PC" and "Yes!"

The following are the specs for what you'll need to build to participate.

Recommended Spec

CPU

Intel - Core i5-2400 AMD - Ryzen R5 1600X

GPU Nvidia - GeForce GTX 970 AMD - Radeon R9 390

RAM 8GB

Minimum Spec

CPU

Intel - Core i3-3250 AMD - FX-4350

GPU Nvidia - GeForce GTX 660 2GB AMD - Radeon HD 7850 2GB

RAM 6GB

If you're upgrading, here is hardware that's available today and runs the game well:

Recommended

CPU- Intel Core i5-7400

GPU- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Minimum

CPU- Intel Pentium G4560

GPU- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2GB

Bungie's Event Machine

CPU– Intel i7-7700k

GPU– Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB

These are the specs for the Beta. They could change before launch on October 24. It all depends on how things play out.

This is not the last piece of news we'll have for PC players prior to the Beta. In the weeks to come, expect us to sound off again with more details on how you can get the most out of your first steps in the PC build. Today, we wanted to let you know when the exercise will begin, and give you enough time – assuming you'll even need it – to build the perfect rig. There's much more to come.

We're looking so forward to hosting you for this crucial testing op. It's been a long time since Bungie has served gamers on anything other than a console. This is an exciting time for us in our studio, and we're packing a lot of love into the PC Beta. We hope you'll join us for this tactical pre-party.

Stop Them Cold

Did you hear the one about the new Exotic Weapon that you'll meet in Destiny 2?

Video Link

Everyone will have a chance to get their hands on this weapon in Destiny 2. If you want to be the first Guardian in a Public Event to trace your enemies with pure energy, reserve yours now. If you already have a pre-order in your hot hands, this cool implement of destruction will be waiting for you.

Endgame: Crucible

Destiny 2 is closed – for now. That front will open back up for more testing on new platforms soon. In the meantime, there are some pretty heavy milestones in the Crucible that we have known for three years that need to be observed.

Image Link

Do you look good in royal blue? Have you reached Rank 7 in your Age of Triumph Record Book? This weekend will be the last occurrence of Trials of Osiris before the offer to obtain the Age of Triumph t-shirt expires. If that page needs some final love, this will be your last chance. Your deadline is August 1. This weekend will not be the last Trials of Osiris, mind you, but it is your last time to profit uniquely.

Image Link

Next week, the Iron Lords will host their very last competition in the Destiny 1 Crucible. It's the end of an era! One more time, you're invited to Felwinter Peak to collect some Bounties and let your Light run wild in the Iron Banner. The circle will close where it began. The game is Control. You'll discover the rewards in the offing when you visit Efrideet.

We've arrived at an interesting time where we live in between two worlds. Step by step, we'll migrate to a brand new title. Don't miss out on your last chance to partake in these rituals as you know them.

Calling all Overlords

Are you the leader of a Clan? If you are, your gaming life is about to get a lot more interesting in Destiny 2. While you wait for that day to arrive, we have some housekeeping for you to do.

Image Link

Yesterday, we updated Bungie.net with some new functionality to let Group Founders prepare their Clans for the trek to Destiny 2. If you are Founder of a Clan, give the support documentation a read. If you are a member of a Clan, go and rally your leadership to do what they gotta do.

Proctors of the Test

Image Link

Destiny Player Support always has one eye on the game, one eye on the datacenter, and one eye on the road. The rest of their eyes are on the Bungie.net forum. While we were Beta testing, they were taking the Moose by the horns. They never sleep. Well, not at the same time anyway.

This is their report.

Preparing for Destiny 2 PC Beta

The Destiny 2 Console Beta provided a great amount of data and information for our internal teams to address leading up to September. The next round of Beta testing is coming in late August for PC. If you have pre-ordered Destiny 2, follow these steps to register:

  • Sign-in to Bungie.net - Create or sign in to a Bungie.net account using your Blizzard Account, PlayStation Network, or Xbox Live credentials

  • Redeem the Early Access Pre-order Code - Enter the Destiny 2 Early Access Beta Code provided by the retailer on Bungie.net/redeem

In the coming weeks, we'll update help.bungie.net/Beta to reflect PC Beta times, and the process of downloading the client. Until then, stay tuned to @BungieHelp for further instruction.

Please note the following:

  • If players experience issues retrieving a Destiny 2 Early Access code upon pre-order, they must contact their retailer for further assistance

  • Code redemption does not display properly on some mobile devices. Please visit Bungie.net on a web browser if you are experiencing any issues, and post a report to the #Help forum detailing your experience

  • Players will only be granted one Destiny Beta Download Code per Pre-order. Bungie will not replace codes if they are lost or have been redeemed for the incorrect platform

Preparing Clans for Destiny 2 Wednesday, we announced important steps for Group Founders to take leading up to the release of Destiny 2. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from the #Help forum:

Q: When will Destiny 2 Clans have access to the new Destiny 2 Clan features? A:On August 23, 2017, Bungie.net and the Destiny Companion Mobile App will undergo maintenance to apply the chosen options to existing Groups and Clans. Once Bungie.net and Destiny Companion services have been restored, some of the new Destiny 2 Clan features will be available on Bungie.net and the Companion App, such as the Clan mottos and Clan banners.

Q: How can a Clan name reservation be redeemed? A:If the "Remain a Group" options was chosen, the user that was designated as the Clan Founder when the process was finalized on August 23, 2017 will hold the Clan name reservation. To redeem the Clan name reservation, this user can simply create a new Clan with the reserved name. Any other user that attempts to create a Clan with the reserved name will receive an error message saying that the reserved Clan name is already in use. If a reservation is not redeemed by September 20 2017, the Clan name will become available for use by anyone seeking to create a new Clan.

Q: How can the Group Founder change the designated Clan Founder? A:The Group Founder can set the designated Clan Founder from the Clan Roster page. To get to the Clan Roster from the Clan homepage, please click the "CLAN" button on the ribbon between "MEMBERS" and "LEADERBOARDS."

Q: What will happen to non-Clan members of Groups that choose the "Upgrade Clan" option? A:Non-Clan members removed when the Group is deleted on August 23. If players wish to retain membership, they must enroll in the Clan prior to August 23. For example, if a player is strictly a non-Clan member of two Groups that choose the "Upgrade to a Destiny 2 Clan" option, they will be removed from both.

For all preparation steps for Destiny 2 Clans, please see this Help Article.

Those were some sweet movies, but I need to share what was my movie of the week.*

All month long, our favorite Fireteam at IGN is chatting about their experiences from a recent visit to our studio. They played a lot of Destiny 2 and they debriefed the team who is finishing it. There's one chapter from their story that I want to call out personally.

This blog article was written in English, but it will be read in many different languages. It's an enormous privilege to be able to speak to a global community. Our Localization Specialists are so much more than translators. They are storytellers and community managers in their own right. We're lucky to have them on our team, and I'm personally lucky to have them carrying our message forward to the rest of the world.

Speaking of the rest of world, we're going to gamescom! Can't wait to join the press of humanity and watch the Rhine flow by again. The road to launch has some more awesome stops for us to make. Germany is next on the itinerary.

DeeJ, out.

Stop calling every old content "Re-skin"

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 04:31 PM PDT

!Warning! English isn't my native Language !Warning!

Sometimes it's become annoying to see people claiming that every similarity between D1 and D2 is a "Re-skin"... Suros guns in D2 look like Suros guns from D1... Or Fallen in D2 look like Fallen from D1. It is not "Re-skin".

Suros wepons in D2 should look like Suros weapons in D1, because they both conform to Suros's unique design aesthetic. Bungie can create new models for new Suros weapons, but old models should not just be erased from the game. Those old models are part of the Destiny Universe. They existed in Destiny Universe, and they should continue to exist. They should not be removed from the game just by the fact that hey are "re-skin".

The same follows for enemy models. Vex Goblins are common part of the Vex Faction; Bungie doesn't have to design a whole suite of new enemies and delete old ones.

It's becoming ridiculous that some people are calling all D1 models in D2 "Re-skins", and want it to be removed/replaced without any good reason but... just because it is not a new content.

Why is nobody complaining that Zavala in Destiny 2 is a Re-skin of Zavala from Destiny 1? If you understand that Zavala is part of the Destiny Universe, then you should understand that some old content is part of the same Destiny Universe.

[Spoiler] Something interesting on the Destiny 2 page.

The great monuments of mankind's utopian Golden Age now lie toppled or half-submerged within the rolling ocean that blankets the entire surface of Titan. All that remains is a flotilla of construction barges and a lone human habitat that serves as the perfect hiding place for some of humanity's scattered forces – and something far more sinister below.

Eventually I'd still like a "Barber Shop" in the social space

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 01:44 AM PDT

I understand for technical reasons why it may be difficult to change the race of your character (I wouldnt mind even paying for it), but in an upcoming expansion Id still love to be able to change my look, paint, hair, etc.

Edit: To clarify, because it's been asked about and commented on a lot, I personally think recustomizing your character should only cost glimmer or legendary shards. Changing your characters race or gender is the only thing I would pay real monies for.

Why is Destiny’s narrative focused on a lone savior when the gameplay emphasizes teamwork?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 12:28 PM PDT

The central contradiction that exists within Destiny today (and it seems in the sequel, as well) is that the central story missions and narrative emphasize the player as a singular hope for the city while most playable activities and the Bungie's core ethos of the game stress that the player is a member of a team of guardians. I understand wanting to make the player feel important and powerful, but how is acknowledging that we are a part of a greater group a detriment to that feeling?

Here is a list of examples of how the player is made to feel that our guardian is unique and above the rest:

  1. Even if playing a mission with other guardians, our guardian appears in cutscenes alone (although with their ghost)

  2. Non-player characters (NPCs) in cutscenes regularly extoll the player as being special or unique. Amanda Holiday in one Destiny 2 cutscene we have already sampled says "Hey, Zavala, I picked up that guardian you never shut up about."

  3. NPCs in the social spaces randomly credit the player singularly for raid accomplishments done by a group. You are always "the slayer of Oryx" rather than "one of the slayers of Oryx."

This might not seem like much, but it is discordant with the themes of the importance of teamwork and community that Destiny also stresses through the following:

  1. Luke Smith cited a community of people to play with as one of the three core tenants of the game moving forward during the Destiny 2 reveal. This was further emphasized later in the presentation by M.E. Chung's introduction of guided games and the importance of clans. The elimination of rumble in the crucible for D2 further hones this point. No longer can your guardian just fight all other players in a crucible match. They are part of a team, like it or not.

  2. The toughest and most rewarding end-game activities emphasize working together in a group. While some players might figure out how to solo a raid or Trials of Osiris, Bungie clearly intended for them to be completed as a group. Even if certain players get "carried," that still implies a social experience. I don't have numbers to back me up on this, but I would wager that most streaming or Youtube content centers around these group activities rather than exhibitions of solo play. The quest for the exotic pulse rifle "Outbreak Prime" involved hundreds of players working together outside of the game to solve the puzzle.

  3. Prized and purchasable content through Eververse have been "emotes" and other cosmetics that players use to communicate to other players. Given the predominance of the first-person view in this game, such cosmetics are not purchased solely for the enjoyment of the solo player, but for the emotions that they can evoke in other players. The only purchases that are meant to be things that only the player can witness (as far as I can tell) were the one-time sales of "lens filters" to change the tint of the game area. Beyond the in-game purchases, purchases made at the Bungie store go to benefit the Bungie foundation. Players have raised money via the Destiny Foundation for Earthquake relief and outside of Bungie via GuardianCon for St. Jude's. Again, no numbers, but I get the sense that our community is a generous one.

This is meant to be a constructive critique. I really enjoy Destiny and want to see it reflect its own values even more clearly. While it is impossible to go back and correct these aspects in Destiny 1 and vanilla Destiny 2, I would very much like to see the narrative aspects of Destiny better reflect the values of community. Going forward, I'd love to see more narrative emphasis on our guardians being valued team members. It would be nice to perhaps show our fellow team-mates in cutscenes, or hear in the social space "hey, those are the guardians that rescued Rasputin."

What do you think? Any other observations/ suggestions?

If we don't get a western themed armor set for the Hunter in D2, I'll be mildly disgruntled for a day or two.

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 09:20 PM PDT

All I want is a poncho, maybe a bandolier, some cowboy boots, and a real holster for my handcannon.

Speaking of which, can we get cool, themed weapons for PvE too? The Last Word is boss af but it's hot trash against/in anything other than trash/PvP. Same with the Thorn. Both are hot trash if you use them for anything harder than the non-heroic strikes.

The Unofficial Farmball Rulebook: A Proposition

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 07:19 AM PDT

Alright, so like most of you here, I had a blast playing football/soccer at the Farm during the Beta. It was fun having my team assign each other positions, seeing how the ball mechanics worked, and watching those flares go off.

I've always been really into the fiction of Destiny, and found it especially amusing how Bungie canonized 'Guardians dancing to no music', 'recreational Tower Jumping', and 'standing on the Vanguard table' in the Grimoire. So, my mind immediately started racing, thinking of how this game would be played by the actual residents of the Farm.

The game at the Farm is obviously way more established than playing with the ball in the Tower, but it still has the potential to get clustery if there are too many people on the field. And you know what? That can be fine too. It's probably gonna happen either way. If you want, go 6 on 1, kick the ball into tree trunks for trick shots, see if you can stand on it, etc.

But for those who want to play a fair, scored game why don't we all think of some fun community rules? Based on the information that we have, and assuming Bungie isn't going to add much more to the experience, what can we come up with?

And while we're at it, instead of calling it Soccer or Football, let's skip the debate (despite the Farm being in the EDZ), roll with the fiction a little bit, and embrace the notion that Guardians and citizens of the Last City hailed from a thousand nations, most lost to time, and simplify the name a bit for everyone.

So here we go.

The Unofficial Farmball Guide

Gameplay Mechanics

For those who didn't have the pleasure of visiting the Farm during the Beta, let's review some basics.

At the back of the Farm you'll see a field, flanked by a fence on one side and a river on the other, with two goals on either end. The ball will usually be found in the very middle of the field. Unlike the ball at the Tower, the ball at the Farm can be kicked very easily and is pretty sensitive (comparable to the Tower's Purple Ball). That being said, the ball will often be kicked out of bounds, but will respawn back in the middle of the field after a few seconds.

Due to the nature of the game, it's unlikely that any sides are going to be kicking the ball back in play from the sidelines, so both teams should probably just be ready to kick the ball as soon as it respawns.

If the ball is kicked into a goal, sparks will signal a point, and 1 of 3 lights will glow on panel inside that goal. This is how you keep score. Upon the 3rd point in one goal, flares fire into the sky, which can be viewed as the end of the match.

Team Composition

Obviously you can play whatever position you want, but I think the fictional archetypes of the Guardians tie in nicely with Farmball.

  • Titans, builders of The Wall and defenders of The Last City, might make great goalkeepers. With their large frame and stone-like strength, you can trust them with the safety of your goal.

  • Warlocks, scholarly and powerful, thrive in a zen-like state of equilibrium, and may be best-suited as defenders. Playing the midfield with an emphasis on defense, they'd be able to both repel attacks and launch the ball back into enemy territory.

  • Hunters, comfortable roughing it in the Wild (and naturally roguish) would make fitting forwards. By pushing into uncharted enemy territory, they'd strive to hit the enemy where it hurts, and with keen accuracy.

Match Size

But how many Guardians should there be on a team? This will of course probably change depending on how populated the Farm is and how many Guardians want to play at once. Fireteam size discrepancies in Destiny 2 make this a little difficult as well, so for the sake of writing an Official Unofficial Rulebook, let's just pick a size.

An ideal match size seems to be 3v3. This number feels like a comfortable player count considering how easily the ball can be knocked out of bounds if there are too many Guardians on the field at once. 3v3 also solidifies the roles of Goalkeeper, Defender, and Forward.

In addition, a 3v3 match can form naturally via a Raid Team splitting in two, or two separate fireteams coming out of a Strike or other PvE content. What if you have a Fireteam of 4? Maybe agree to rotate out positions after each goal.

If you and your fireteam walk up to a game already in progress, there are actually some folding chairs on the sidelines for you to sit in. Crack open a cold one, pick a side and cheer them on with some emotes! And if you're playing, keep in mind that there may be other fireteams waiting to play. Score your three goals, celebrate, and share the field with those who are patiently waiting.

Match Duration

All players will start the match by standing in their goal. This ensures that there is a visible line to stay behind until the match starts. Once it begins, the Forwards rush the ball as the Goalkeepers and Defenders take their positions.

Since there is no game clock, matches will be decided based on the first team to reach three goals. More often than not, this will probably mark the end of a game, especially if there are other Guardians waiting to play.

However, on the off chance that there's no one waiting on the sidelines, this may also be viewed as the end of the first round. Round 2 will once again be the first team to get three goals. If Team A wins again, the game is over. However, if Team B wins Round 2, Round 3 can be played in order to break the tie. At that point, the round victories will read "2:1" and an ultimate winner is then decided.

Misc. Suggestions!

Apart from the sections above, what other fun ideas can we add into Farmball to enhance the experience? Let's hear them!

  • Instead of a whistle, start matches by having a 'referee' emote something unique. When you read the prompt in the lower left of the screen, begin!

  • Have your fireteam wear a jersey by all putting on the same shader. This will help tell your team apart from the other at a glance, and will also benefit anyone watching.

  • Have your fireteam choreograph a halftime show, to be performed between rounds. During this time, both teams will agree to push the ball out of the way, but not so far as to go out of bounds, leaving the middle of the field free for the performers. When the show is over kick the ball completely out to reset its position, and game on!

  • If you're watching the game, help make a victory tunnel on the bridge for when the game ends. Have everyone line up on both sides of the bridge and dance as the teams run through to exit the field.

What do you guys think? Of course anyone can play however they want, but it would be great if there was some sort of fun standard we could all play towards.

I'd love it if "Farmball" was a community-built experience, so the more ideas we can add to this, the better. I played soccer for six years, but it was forever ago, so please help me out!

Whether this picks up any steam or not, I know that something amazing and fun will sprout from the community, based on just this tiny mechanic Bungie added in our new social space. :)

And whether it's for fun or the sweatiest of sweaties, I'm looking forward to getting to play it again come September 6th!

I realize I'm not the first to do this, but I'd like to bring back attention to it for how easy it is to do, and how cool it turns out! I made the cover design but the rest was from the PDF.

The Beta or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Criticism

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 08:08 AM PDT

I'll be the first to admit that coming into this subreddit week after week I tend to steer clear of posts like the one I'm creating right now. Mainly because gamers are a passionately critical bunch and some would even say super salty. I've been playing since TTK and love the guides, lore, and weekly reset information. It's been super helpful. However the criticisms and straight salt have made me avoid this subreddit.

Until the Beta.

I realized during the beta that the reasons people are so critical of Destiny and The Destiny 2 Beta is because they love the game. They love the world. They love their guardians and most importantly their loot.

That being said I started doing something different during the beta. I started to really listen to all the of the criticisms of the community, podcasts and clanmates.

I learned a lot. Here's what I learned:

  • A high percentage of people who played the beta enjoyed the beta.
  • People really enjoyed the Homecoming story mission
  • Almost everyone agreed that PvP should be Balanced Separately PvE

I think on those 3 points 98% of all of us can agree on.

I also think that calling people toxic for voicing their concerns or salty is a misnomer. The truth is the critical are just voicing all their opinions because they want the game to be better because they love it. The "Fanboys" often take offense to the criticism because they feel like their game is being attacked and want to defend it.

We wouldn't be playing this game if we didn't love it. We wouldn't be critical if we didn't love it.

Bungie is currently working tirelessly on Destiny 2 and the community is excited and ready to play.

I hope to see you all in Destiny 2 in 40 Days

TLDR: We are all passionate about the success of Destiny and want the best for Destiny 2

And i was like -"I got this!" You know? When you're in that - "I got this!"

CoolieCJ, Bungie map designer and all around great guy, tweeted asking for this to be made, so here it is:

It's glorious and there should definitely be a D2 mod where all sound effects are performed by Bungie staff.

My Transmog Dream for Destiny 2

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 11:44 AM PDT

Diablo 3 has the perfect Transmog system. If you've never played Diablo 3 before, I'll explain how it works. Any time you find a piece of gear (weapon or armor) you will unlock it's appearance. Once you want to change the appearance of whatever you currently have equipped, you can visit D3's Mystic vendor. Once there, you can throw each armor piece or weapon into a window, then choose from any of the appearances you've currently unlocked. Pay some gold to her, and BOOM! Appearance changed.

I can't tell you how much I would love a system like this in Destiny 2. Remember all that cool rare(blue) armor you used to find in D1? Well with this system you could make your max light armor look just like it. I highly doubt this will make it into the game at launch...or ever, but I can dream.

EDIT So obviously Exotics would be a big issue here on the PvP side of things. Easy fix there would be to not allow Exotics to be transmogged. Only Legendary quality or lower could have it's appearance changed.

Expectations can make or break a game...

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 07:58 AM PDT

...and that is why Bungie is playing it smart this time around. Its much easier to wow people after playing a mildly fun, content limited, no progression, beta rather than showing us all the new features and gameplay like they did with D1 alpha and beta. I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised come release day.

Anyone feverishly trying to find things to do until D2 release?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 12:15 PM PDT

Outside of a typical routine day, work and college I've been finding it hard to find things to make the time pass more enjoyable.

I've been feeling bleak towards games lately with nothing really jumping out at me to want to play.

What are some of the things you've picked up to pass the time? Or do you just not give a shit and it'll get here when it gets here.

IGN first was a good way to satisfy the craving for July, now we have the home stretch of August.

Edit: Shark week has been holding me over and GoT on Sunday's. But shark week ends this week. tear

Guess who's Birthday it is today (27th of July)?

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 03:04 PM PDT

Yup you guessed it, it's the Birthday boy u/norsefenrir Birthday (not kidding)!

It might not be the 27th of July for the Birthday boy yet, but up north, more specifically Norway (where your name probably originates from) the clock just passed midnight.

So I only got one more thing to say...

HAPPY REAL BIRTHDAY u/norsefenrir!

Finally Completed VOG

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 12:11 PM PDT

Big thanks to the pick up group I connected with last night on the Destiny Companion app recruitment section. I started playing in December with some friends occasionally and a small not very active clan. I tried my hand at raiding a couple months ago and have beaten Crota, and parts of Kings Fall and Wrath. My first go at VoG was a rough exercise in head banging. Spent two long evenings trying to do it, first night doing and redoing the Templar over and over and the second night advancing to Atheon, and staying up way too late trying to get that completion but the team and I just couldn't quite do it. While I had a basic idea of what to do, I wasn't very familiar with the mechanics and didn't have the best equipment either. I'm sure that didn't help. The frustration lead me to back off from raids for a time as an exercise in headaches. I worked on leveling up other characters, acquiring better gear, and playing lots with a friend and his gf who got back into the game, helping them level up and sharing things I've learned to make their lives easier (as kind others have done for me).

Fast Forward to now. I've joined some 100.io groups and teamed up with people from there (haven't been able to sync up for a raid with one of my groups yet), played trials and gotten some cool armor (haven't advanced very far, but oh well) and just finished the Age of Triumph book. I tried to join a raid on the 100 last night and it didn't work out for whatever reason (never got an invite or reply from the person who put it together). I searched the Destiny Companion app for raids and found a group needing 1 player and joined. A little less than two hours later we were finished. I had a few dumb deaths (missing the platform when jumping while blinded), but was much better than the previous time and thankfully not the only one who wasn't perfect. We almost beat Atheon on the first go, and then get stuck in a funk where we didn't even fight him for a few rounds. We get to the point where people are saying this is the last try. Someone got taken out by an explosive harpy so of course we had to do it again, "one more time," but actually make it to the damage phase. We get there, I land my jump only nearly blind (after taking out the last oracle with seconds to spare), we get Atheon down to the last sliver. At this point, we're not stopping, Time's Conflux is gone, we keep firing hoping to survive and get the job done. BOOM! Rewards drop, no one died, and the sleeper helped put Atheon down for the night. A satisfying finish in one round and some people had run out of heavy synths. Friendship requests all around. So thanks again team, glad I saw there was a spot available and was able to join. It's just really fun and nice to have a satisfying experience like this with a pick up group.

Hopefully I can complete King's Fall and Wrath of the Machine in full before D2 drops. Maybe get some completions on my warlock too.

"Wasted on Destiny" just broke 1 million

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 05:24 PM PDT

Hi everyone!

I'm the maker of Time Wasted on Destiny, and I wanted to express to all of you my greatest thanks. There are just over one million players who looked up their time on my website now, and that means so much to me.

I started this funny little project at the beginning of summer 2015, before the release of The Taken King. Even though I came late to the website game, I already had some experience with Bungie's API for having made a website for Destiny before: Dinklebot. The idea for this website came from a friend, who used to check his time played on League of Legends on a cute little site named "Wasted on LOL". You can guess what happened next, although I certainly didn't expect this to be so popular...

I wasn't the first to make a website telling people the time they spent playing Destiny. I knew however that there was something the others did not do, or didn't want to do due to speed constraints. I was able to add the time for deleted characters because that was the only big computing my website would be doing, while all the other websites had complicated stats and other neat features. That's where the "Wasted" becomes relevant, because just like many players, I don't find this time wasted at all. Deleted characters, however, are lost forever.

So I must say one last time thank you very much for coming to my website and giving me your experience to always improve my creation. It has been a rewarding experience, and you can all expect to see my website change its purpose for Destiny 2 soon enough, with added features and more oomph.

On a side note, here is a short Q&A for the future of my website.

Q: Will the website remain online after Destiny 2 launches?

Yes, even though it will now be about Destiny 2 instead of Destiny 1.

Q: Will our time spent on Destiny 1 remain?

Yes, although it will not be updated anymore.

Do you have more questions to ask? I'm open to all feedback.

Thank you very much and I wish you as much great time on Destiny 2!
